Servo Motor Locking is an Emergency
If you dismount a motor and the shaft is rock solid and won't turn by hand, the motor is locked. Sending power to it will instantly blow your drive. Why does this happen?
1. Brake Might Be Active
Z-axis motors have brakes. Without power, springs clamp the mechanism. Applying 24V DC should release it. If it doesn't, the coil is burnt or mechanically jammed.
2. Shattered Bearings
The balls in the front or rear bearings have shattered and wedged inside the cage, mechanically locking the shaft.
3. Detached Magnets (The Most Dangerous)
Neodymium magnets on the rotor have detached due to heat/shock and wedged between the stator and rotor. Forcing it by hand will shred the windings.
